Ways to Use Curd for Skin and Hair

Curd is a very good natural product to nourish your hair as well as skin. Curd is used from ancient times to enhance the beauty and texture of hairs. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it acts best to cure pimples and dark spots.

Having antioxidant property curd is a good source to keep the body cool. Curd has a good source of protein, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. Intake of curd daily can cure your stomach problems and help in reducing cholesterol levels. Other than this curd intake makes your skin look younger and maintains good health, reflecting on your skin.




* Curd for skin


Curd can be used in numerous ways to treat skin-related issues.


1. Reduce dryness


Generally, winters make our skin dry and dull. Excessive cold reduces the body oil and which results in a rough texture of the skin. Curd acts as a natural moisturizer that can help to get back the essential oil deficiency.


Procedure:


i. Take two teaspoons of plain curd/yogurt.

ii. Massage on your face and neck and leave for 5 to 10 minutes.

iii. Rinse it off with normal water.


Doing this regularly in winters will help you in getting nourished and soft skin.


2. Massage cream


Curd can act as a massage cream. It carries lactic acid which is best for anti-aging properties.


Procedure:


i. Take 2 teaspoons of curd.

ii. Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey.

iii. Massage on your face in an upward direction.

iv. Try 3-4 basic massage steps including the neck area.

v. Rinse it off with cold water.


You can do this once a week and its regular use can give you wrinkles-free and poreless skin.


3. Exfoliator


Curd has all the good properties which nourish your skin and make it healthy. For healthy-looking skin, exfoliation is required once a week, making the skin smooth and removing the dead skin cells.


Procedure:


i. Take 3 teaspoons curd.

ii. Add 2 teaspoon gram flour (besan)

iii. Add a pinch of wild turmeric powder (Haldi)

iv. Make a thick paste and scrub on your face.

v. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.


4. Face pack


We often use different ingredients to make our face pack. The use of curd in the face pack improves the consistency as there is no need to add water and gives enough moisture that doesn't make the skin dry out after washing the face.


Procedure:


i. Take 2 teaspoons of fuller earth powder (Multani mitti)

ii. Add 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder (Chandan)

iii. Add curd in the proportion that balances the consistency.

iv. Apply a thick layer on the face and neck and leave it on for 15 minutes.

v. After it dries out, take water and remove it while massaging.



* Curd for hair


Curd intake makes the hair grow healthier, but it can also be applied externally directly to the hair. Because of its antibacterial properties, it is the best ingredient to make your scalp clean and free from infections. It also treats itchiness and acts as a treatment to the infected areas on your scalp. The effective D and B5 vitamins resent in curd make it an excellent ingredient to make hair grow stronger and thicker.


1. Reduce dandruff


Winter brings on a lot of dandruff and dry scalp issues. Curd if used in the right direction can help in solving this problem.


Procedure:


i. Take half a bowl of curd.

ii. Add 2-3 teaspoon coconut oil.

iii. Add half lemon juice and make a thick paste.

iv. Apply this concentrating more on the scalp and apply the remaining paste on hair length.

v. Secure your hair in a bun and leave it on for 20 minutes.

vi. After 20 minutes wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

(Tip: Using warm water can damage your hair. Always use lukewarm or room temperature water.)


You can get a dandruff-free scalp if you use this method 2-3 times. You can use it once a week.


2. Smooth & shiny hair


Who doesn't want smooth, shiny, and silky hair? Curd can help you do have this just with few steps. This is my personal favorite DIY for hair and I usually do this every 2-3 weeks.


Procedure:


i. Take a bowl full of curd

(Take according to your hair length. My hair is long so I need 1 full bowl)

ii. Add 3-4 teaspoons of raw honey in it.

iii. Add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil.

iv. Mix it well and apply it all the way from the roots to the tip of your hair.

v. Cover your hair or secure it in a bun and leave it on for 30-40 minutes.

vi. Rinse with lukewarm or cold water.

(After applying this hair mask you can skip your conditioner)


The results of this hair mask can visibly be seen just after your hair starts drying.


3. Strong hair


Curry leaves are high in proteins and are excellent for strengthening hair. Curry leaves if applied with curd can make your hair strong and will resolve your hair fall issue.


Procedure:


i. Take half a bowl of curd.

ii. Grind a bowl full of curry leaves.

iii. Add the curry paste to the curd and make a thick mixture.

iv. Apply it evenly on your roots, hair length, and tip.

v. leave it on for 45 minutes and rinse off with mild shampoo.


Curd has lots of vitamins, proteins, anti-aging, anti-oxidant properties which makes it a superfood that can be used for intake as well as applying externally.

Everyone has unique skin and different products react on them differently, so before applying any of the DIY methods onto your face take a patch test. If it feels good to your skin and does not create any problems, you can use it on your face then.
