Care for yourself. Nobody else is going to do that for you.

“Doctors won’t make you healthy. Nutritionists won’t make you slim. Teachers won’t make you smart. Gurus won’t make you calm. Mentors won’t make you rich. Trainers won’t make you fit. Ultimately, you have to take responsibility. Save yourself.“ ~ Naval

Humans are strange. We have been manipulated by our own defined concept of success and hierarchy hacks. Hierarchy is a result of evolution but with the evolution of human societies, the concept of social hierarchy has seen a drastic change. The 21st-century scene of social hierarchy is all about career, money, and the quality of lifestyle. We keep struggling to achieve big in career, life, or academics throughout our lives without even looking after our mental, physical health. That’s where we are making the mistake. Sacrificing your health while hustling for your goals is not at all worth it. Prioritizing your health over anything is highly important right now. It’s high time to care for yourself while struggling for your ambitions, goals, and a better lifestyle.

Self-care is important:

Modern life is complex. Half of our life goes into focussing on academics followed by building a career. This is the reality of life in a country like India. Career and academics are important but not at the cost of your health.

The biggest question that arises here is why we are struggling so hard to achieve some materialistic goals. What will we get by achieving them? What is the logic of sacrificing life experiences for achieving the society-defined success targets and being unhappy on reaching there?

These are the questions you must ask yourself now. Materialistic achievements are important to an extent as these improve our lifestyle. Upgradation is important. But not at the cost of your health and mind.

Keep yourself always at the top of your priority list. No one else is going to do that for you.

Introspection:

Your best friend and your worst enemy is the same person, that is ‘you’. Knowing yourself takes time. In fact, it’s quite impossible to know yourself completely. But it’s quite necessary to know your weaknesses and strengths. The sooner you figure it out, the better.

Ask yourself what you want from life, what kind of impact you want to create and what kind of work makes you happy. Understanding your abilities will help you figure out what’s best for you and what’s not.

Please take care of yourself:

Taking care of yourself is not limited to following a proper schedule, workout regularly, and eating healthy. These are definitely highly important. But are we ignoring our mental health? Nobody talks about that.

Let’s do a thought experiment. What kind of questions does you mostly get encountered in social situations? Certainly, nothing related to your emotional health and mental wellness. This is the issue we need to work on. A society cannot prosper without giving importance to mental health.

Seek Help:

It’s high time to look after your mental health along with your physical health. Seeking help won’t make you weaker, instead, it will help you figure out ways to overcome your issues.
